I Sørup på Sydsjælland har Heine Skjerning sit territorium for biotopiske indgreb i den stedlige natur. En stor have kunne man kalde området, hvor han skaber en kunstig natur med sine indgreb, der består i at fremelske diversiteter indenfor fauna og dyreverden.
Det er biotopiske universer, hvor bestemte insekter, planter og andet får den fulde opmærksomhed og kultivering. Derved skabes en herlighed – en form for virkeliggjort utopi.
I sagens natur er projektet en metamorfose med uendelige led, muligheder og underlagt forandringens iboende muligheder for hele tiden at overraske positivt og negativt.
Et sted hvor Skjerning afprøver muligheder for kunstnerisk arbejde med spørgsmål såsom hvor slutter kunsten og hvor begynder noget andet.
Atelier
Havens biotopier er for så vidt også kunstnerens eksperimentarium og atelier. Dog underlagt vind og vejr.
Men på grunden har Skjerning ombygget en gammel lade til atelier i to etager, hvor han har skabt sit eget ”secret place”.

In Sørup, in the soutern part of Sjaelland, Heine Skjerning has been nurturing his territory for biotopic interventions in the local natural environment. You could call the area a huge garden; here, Skjerning creates an artificial nature with his interventions that consist of breeding diversities in the flora and fauna. What we have here is a matter of biotopic universes, where certain insects, plants and other life forms are afforded the full attention and cultivation. What emerges from this is a splendor – a form of realized utopia.
According to the spirit of the endeavor, the project is a metamorphosis with an infinite chain of links and possibilities and is subject to change’s immanent potential to constantly elicit surprises, both positively and negatively.
It is a place where Skjerning tries out opportunities for artistic work, examining questions like where art breaks off and where something else commences.
Studio
The garden’s biotypes are, in a sense, also the artist's experimentarium and studio, even though they are subject to the vicissitudes of wind and weather. Basically, Skjerning has converted an old barn into a studio laid out on two floors, where he has created his own "secret place".
